By accessing or using Syntheda ("the Service", "the Platform", "our website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Syntheda (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). Please read them carefully.

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use Syntheda. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet the age requirement.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

To access certain features (subscriptions, topic alerts, AI chat, Turing Test voting), you must create an account. When you register, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.

You agree NOT to use Syntheda to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
• Transmit spam, malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or impersonate others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other user accounts, or our backend infrastructure
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract content without written permission
• Manipulate the Turing Test by creating multiple accounts or coordinating votes
• Use the AI chat feature to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination, and we may report illegal activity to law enforcement.

Some articles on Syntheda are written by AI and clearly labeled as such. While all AI-generated content undergoes human editorial review before publication, we make no guarantees about its accuracy, completeness, or reliability.

Important: Content on Syntheda — whether AI-generated or human-written — is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as professional advice (legal, financial, medical, or otherwise). Always consult a qualified professional for specific advice.

If you identify an error in any article, please report it to [email protected]. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate and correct mistakes promptly.

Syntheda operates an ongoing experiment (the "Turing Test") where readers guess whether articles are written by AI or humans. By voting, you agree that:

• Your votes are anonymized and cannot be linked back to your account after submission
• Aggregated voting statistics may be published publicly
• You will not attempt to manipulate results through coordination, multiple accounts, or automated voting
• Participation is voluntary and does not affect your access to articles

Syntheda may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. We do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for any third-party content or services.

Your interactions with third parties (including payment processors like Stripe and AI providers like Anthropic) are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from third-party interactions.

If you believe that content on Syntheda infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA takedown notice to [email protected] with the following information:

• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
• Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing (with URL)
• Your contact information (name, address, email, phone)
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized
• A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
• Your physical or electronic signature

We will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content or terminating repeat infringers' accounts.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

• Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
• That the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• That defects will be corrected or that our servers are free of viruses or harmful components
• The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on the Service

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SYNTHEDA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you have not paid us anything, our liability is limited to $100 USD.

These limitations apply even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain damages, so these limitations may not fully apply to you.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Syntheda, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
• Any User Content you submit or transmit through the Service

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Profile → Delete Account. Upon deletion:

• Your personal data will be deleted within 30 days (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Active subscriptions will be canceled (no refunds for partial periods)
• Your chat history, topic alerts, and reading history will be permanently deleted
• Turing Test votes remain anonymized in our database (they cannot be linked back to you)

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. We will provide notice where legally required.
